Hey Shayne, welcome back to LJ! Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. It may even tie into your studies this semester (you are doing theology right?). There will be a lot on death, life and spirituality here because I'm doing Blake.

Yes, they are very very young. Sometimes it does get frustrating but I see it as a great thing. On the one hand, it makes me feel great that I have learnt and grown so much in life. On the other, it makes me feel really young too (especially if you get involved in uni life, go out with uni friends outside of classes etc). Why did you feel lost on the first day? It's a very small campus....or was it just the usual 'I have no idea which room my lecture is in' of everyone's first day of every semester?
As for arguing the point, you may find you get run over by arguments. I guess it all depends on how academic they are. If all your classmates stick to the 'but how else was the universe created?' "science isn't that powerful' and (my favourite) 'but it says so in the Bible!' then you may find that you have the best arguments all 'round.
Hello Anissa- your amazing images keep appearing with these extraordinary self-searching poetic texts... .there must be a book in these one day! On more mundane administrative matters- 2 things: 1/ Marie Backo told me that next Thursday is fine for both of you to do your exam. So I am setting 1pm as the target time. Don't be late! 2/ I was distressed that you had to leave the Blake class after your tutorial this week. Someone told me you had a clash. That is no good for you. You will miss out the content and then have to work harder than others to catch up. There must be some other arrangement. Remember last semester how the first 5 weeks were messed up by moving here and there. Let's get it right this time. It is only week 1. Can you please talk to me about this. Michael
Thanks Michael. I am in fact working on a book but it is slow going.
I did have a timetable clash and it was distressing me. I certainly didn't want a repeat of last semester as it drained me, consequently getting sick at the end as well as the beginning. I've mentioned to you before that I find Blake challenging as it is and missing lectures would make it twice as hard. I had to leave to try and negotiate a change with my French tutor, who kindly obliged. As of next week I'll be able to come to all the tutorials and lectures so hopefully I haven't missed too much!
Can you let us know which room we will have our exam in? 1pm is close enough as it is and I don't want to be late looking for the room like I was for the Blake tutorial.
Oh. My. God. I have just been re-scanning live journal after a semester off English Lit and stumbled here having never viewed your journal before. Your images are fascinating and so precise, I've read this poem and back a couple of pages and have found both your photography and writing utterly captivating, lucd and insightful. You are a true wordsmith and I second Michael- write a book, you have an incredible gift! In a way your peices are like William Blake's- your photographic images compliment the words of your poetry as his etchings enhanced his own vision.
Can I also ask what camera you have? The images that you take are so vivid and the clarity really adds depth to your work.
BTW my name is Eleanor- I think I lent you a Text book for 20th c lit in 2007.
I know what you mean when you say that even though you enjoy photography, it's hard to call yourself a photographer. I always thought that you have to have sold some work, or at the very least be critically acclaimed, have exhibitions etc for that title. The weird thing is I have had an exhibition (and really want to work towards a second) and sold works but even if someone introduces me as a photographer I deny it! I do really love it though. I tried underwater photography and found it very difficult. I posted one of the pics on LJ a few months back but it really was the only one out of a whole roll that was vaguely interesting. Keep up the underwater stuff if you can. Even if it's just a hobby, it is a great form of expression and not many people do the underwater stuff
