"Just a dog" doesn't seem to work as comfort. It's just not what matters.

I know. Emotionally, pets can mean so much - I just feel daft at how much, sometimes.

I'm very sorry :( Pets can very much become part of the family so you're entitled to be upset.

Thank you. I know - I suppose I feel a bit silly when trying to explain it to people, but I think everyone who's had a pet understands.
