I'm too tired to be coherent... but yeah! I have been noticing all the "Oh we're sooo much better at this, this is no Katrina" attitudes. And I just can't really buy it, it's not the same in so many ways. Not the least of which are the people affected.

I also had immediate resentment about the idea that Katrina was the first time there had ever had to be an evacuation or the first time disaster had ever struck. Like about a year after 9/11 and something huge happened in Israel (I don't even remember what) and someone actually had the gall to say, "this is Israel's 9/11."

i was just reading a report about how after all the investigations and clean up, there was little reporting done on the TRUTH of what happened in the superdome. 4 people died, not 22 or 73. 4. one of diabetic shock, two of heart attacks and i forget the other one. but no dead raped corpses of kids piled up in freezers. it was all mythology. which i can believe. motive!

yeah, clowns sure do make a difference. bah.

Do you remember when it was all going down and there were all those media stories about how a hospital had been looted and patients or nurses raped and I don't know what all else? And then it turned out that nothing like that had happened at all? The hospital was fine and people were being taken care of. There was such a sickening undertone of look at this descent into savage chaos after the civilizing effect of white people is removed ( ... )
