Theatre-filled weekend

Saw Les Miserables last night, which was beyond awesome. I'm in love with that music. It was beautiful.

Also saw Prince Caspian on Saturday, which I thought was pretty good, despite the obvious divergences from the book. I understand why they did it--after all, the book's more about learning about what's going on and strategy than actual huge ( Read more... )

narnia, canon-sues, star wars

Could be one of two different things maybe?

Either he already would see it as having been there and wouldn't get the fuss if Singsong tries to use it to dig at him or something, or he'd be split from the canon from where it had been as a whole when he'd been recruited and any new changes to it he'd notice?

Yeah, that's what I've come up with. The problem is picking out which is more fun to work with. XD

I think I'm leaning toward the first option there. The poor guy needs SOME sort of defense against Singsong, after all. Not to mention that it makes perfect sense--after all, canon is canon, whether it's been published yet or not.

See, that's the funny thing--I don't mind the bad dialog/acting or the annoying characters like Jar Jar so much because I was just a kid when the prequels came out. I cared more about the plot and what was happening and finding out all the important things than whether or not the actors were doing a good job. And besides, I actually found Jar Jar kinda cute. But a blatant canon-Sue...she won't be annoying in a Jar Jar sort of way.

I'm hoping she isn't a Sue, because she'd probably be a pretty cool character. I mean, c'mon--how many times do we see a female Jedi as a main character? Not to mention she's a Togruta, like Shaak Ti. I LOVE Togrutas.

Yeah, she probably IS a canon-Sue, but one can always hope...

If you cry easily, then, yes, you probably will cry at the end of the night raid. And Peter will experience miserable failure, so that ought to make you happy, too. XD

As for Suspian (as I hear it's being called), if there were more parts, I'm quite glad that the director cut out more of it then. No offense, but I just...nope. Can't see it. *shrugs* I'm not going to mind it in goodfic or anything... I'd just like to know what got into the director's head to make him think it was a good idea. I mean...Narnia isn't about romance. And one other thing--seeing as they did have romance in there, they should've had something at the end of the credits with Susan and maybe that boy at the train station who had a crush on her...just as a nice way to tie it up and finish her tangent, I suppose. *shrugs again*

Grargh. I hate the existence of Ahsoka Tano with the fire of a thousand suns.
She's a visible symbol of Lucas slapping EU fans across the face.

Know why? Because this Clone Wars thing will have movie-level canon, and thereby utterly destroy some of my absolute favourite Clone Wars novels.

Thanks, George. Haven't you given Leland Chee enough hard work already? Please to be stopping messing your fans around now. :(

Ouch. I hadn't thought of it that way... *isn't very involved with non-post-ROTJ EU, but means to change that*

Maybe they'll make it compatible with the novels...if not by outright saying they happened, then at least by giving them room to happen...you never know.

Actually, some of the points are utterly incompatible.

They're shuffling some of the Clone Wars events around to explain it, but in the process they wreck the storylines of characters like Quinlan Vos.

Asajj and Anakin both get meddled with, and it invalidates some book sections I really love.

...Plus, Ahsoka's costume really isn't appropriate for a young Jedi. She's either eleven or fourteen, depending on your source...and either way that outfit is too old for her, and not very Jedi-like.
She's...Togruta lolicon. Bad Lucas! Bad!
Aayla freaking Secura wears about as much or more than Tano, and she's A) a Twi'lek, and B) much older.

Pity. You'd think it'd be in Lucas's interest to keep the continuity of things...

Wait, Ahsoka's eleven/fourteen? And she's wearing THAT?! Ugh...that actually makes me feel sorry for the poor kid. Good Force, she IS just a kid... Arg.

This is where my issues with canon-Sues come in. I usually wind up feeling sorry for them, because in most cases they could be a good character if they weren't so...Sueish. *sighs* Yet another reason why I like fanfiction--you can help out those characters in need of character.
