So... it's my first photoshop colouring. I guess it shows. Also, almost 95% of it was done using a mouse. I appear to be a tablet cripple.
I know there are mistakes in the drawing itself. A LOT of them. But I could really do with a feedback concerning colouring, shading and everything PS related. I want to know if there is a hope for me.

Wow, I think it's great for your first time coloring in PS! And especially for using mostly a mouse. I like the shading on the clothes and the way you did the highlights in L's hair. Well done! :)

I've actually been trying to experiment with coloring my own fanart in an image editing program, but haven't been getting very far. :P Might you know of any good tutorials, or have any suggestions?

It depends on what kind of image editing program you use. I've found some really nice tutorials one DA but they are mostly for PS.

with familiarizing myself with the basics of colouring and shading.

To be honest, the lion share of my work was done simply by experimenting with various tools. It's the most important thing in the whole process, I think.

I usually use Gimp, and I'm finding that it has quite a few things in common with PS. I'll keep experimenting and see what I end up with.
