Meta: The Year in Fic (2009)

2009: A Year in Fic
January: Rock, Paper, Scissors; original x Prince of Tennis; 300+ words. Just a random drabble that squeezed its way out of my head because it wanted to. I couldn't follow it up with anything, but at least something popped up.
August: Last Man Standing; Hikaru no Go; 48 words. I joined hng_deathmatch hoping it would force me to write more, but got voted out in a really close round (losing by 1 vote when I wrote less than 50 words is not really a big deal to me).
October: Intermezzo; Nodame Cantabile; 750+ words. I was actually on holiday in Denver when I wrote this; the first draft popped out in a Starbucks, of all places. The ending had to be extensively re-written, but people seemed glad to read it when it was finally posted. ♥
And... that's it for my year in fic. 1100 words, give or take a few. When you consider that I wrote over 144,000 words in 2007, and over 36,050 words in 2008, the writer's block has managed to hit hard and actually land a lot of punches.
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
*laughs* A thousand words. You must be joking if you think I thought I would write so little.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January 2009?
It doesn't count because it wasn't posted, but the work on the NANA fic wasn't entirely expected (even though it appeared on the milestone celebration request post).
What's your favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest.
Surprisingly, Last Man Standing. 48 words that just decided to pop out and sit there. ^_^;
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Last year I called 2009 my Year of Tying Loose Ends. I did not manage to tie all that many up, so 2010 will continue to be so. I also will continue to try and finish something original for publication, even if it is only a short story.
