As I’ve also said before, I’m not much of a critic. Reviews aren’t a thing I do well. But I do like to mention it when I’ve read something I really liked, even if I have trouble explaining why I liked it.

The second Alpennia book is already out, and the third will be out fairly soon. I have both of them on my wishlist.

The thing I found myself enjoying most in the first book was actually the nest-of-vipers political intrigue, and the twists and turns our heroes have to make in order to come out unscathed. It's astoundingly well done, not that I would expect anything less from Jones -- she's a historian who's studied the period.

Mother of Souls is out now (Two days ago, I think; I'm in a different timezone). And yes, I love hrj's writing and I'm looking forward to this one.

The second Heather Rose Jones book, The Mystic Marriage, I personally think is a more accomplished work. I might like it a little better. (I like the third not quite as well, but it shows even more politics. *g*)
