This and that

I cackled in the car when I heard this yesterday, on NPR's Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me.  Peter Sagal: "Gov. Sanford of South Carolina joined the growing army of social conservatives who decided to get a jump on destroying their own marriages before same sex couples could do it to them. " I'd been looking forward to their riffs, and the whole segment ( Read more... )

I was cynically amused to hear about Sanford's little exposure at the Atlanta airport. Personally I think he should be impeached for dereliction of duty for vanishing without transferring power to his Lt Gov, but hey, I think cheaters need to be held accountable. They all get contrite and plead sorrow when caught, but most will go on to do it again so I have pretty near zero tolerance for it ( ... )

The gross, massive hypocrisy sticks in my craw. How dare these people get all self-righteous about "protecting the sanctity of marriage"? And if they claim to be Christian, then they need to pay heed to the orders to not be judgmental, and butt out of other people's business.

I need to go on a tear here. I've been at a dead run since I moved here four years ago, and I want to do a drastic pruning of the books. If I have three days to empty book shelves onto the floor, I can get a lot accomplished.

Yeah. Although gay marriage aside (I support happiness and I dont see the big deal allowing this), I always find it amazing the hipocracy of these folks. It's not just conservatives, it's people (usually males in authoritative postions) in general. It do as say not as I do, becasue I am above the rules you have to abide by thing- that irks me.

Same thing happened here a while a go with a so called bible thumping politican here in TX (oh that was fun when he got nailed XD). These guys ought to know better...really. But they get arrogant the only thing they are sorry about is they got caught. I always want to ask the question..was-it-worth-it? LOL

Just know that the hiporcacy is across political orientation, the TX pol was a dem. Watch out The govt that says this is Ok for you and what you do, but then, it doesnt apply to "us". Power corrupts.

It's interesting we never see women fall into the affair business. Money scandals, yes, but not affairs.

There aren't as many women in powerful positions, and women don't have that entitlement trained into them --"I'm a success, so I get to have groupies." We're much more wary of potential problems than men (nothing like knowing you could get pregnant to teach the long view).

Presumably it's the allowing of gay marriage in three states - is it now? - that has caused him to sin. The attack on heterosexual marriage has begun!

Perhaps it's the fault of the British somehow, as we allowed it in 2000 and the wind has probably blown a cloud of evil across the atlantic.

Or something.

Plain old fashioned hypocrisy and entitlement -- a fine classic combo, suitable for all cultures and ages.

Snerfles.

Our own politicians got caught out very badly when they tried to push the idea of family values, as it turned out so many had second unofficial ones.

I love Peter Sagal. :D The hypocrisy and rationalizing of these politicians is just getting too damn thick all around.

Sorry about the lack of A/C. :( Enjoy your three day weekend!

Wait, Wait is one of my favorite shows, and it's perfect in the car.

It was awful there! But I'm back, and zapping dinner in the micorwave.
