So last week LJ got hit with another DOS attack, I guess. I saw that I couldn't bring up my own profile page for a couple of days, then I could barely get on at all. There went all good intentions for updating early in the week. Then we got involved for three days packing up all the Christmas decorations, inside and outside. And it is a full three-

My dad, no fan of Obama, voted for him because the thought of President Romney was so horrible.

Yeah, I really think it's saying something when even the most party devout had a hard time justifying Romney. But I feel like the most important distinction to come from this election is how the women and minorities took the election away from the white male vote, and that women and minorities overwhelmingly voted for Obama.
The old white male vote is becoming less and less powerful, especially the more out of touch with reality and progress it is.
Sandy Hook was an absolute nightmare. I can't even imagine being one of those parents waiting in the firehouse as hours went by and there was no reunion with their little children. The whole thing was so heartbreaking, but I kept up with it religiously, as much of a punch to the gut as it was. :(
And anyone who still goes around with "it ain't the guns" on their lips deserves to have their tongue shrivel up and drop out of their mouths. Just my NSHO.

I agree with you re politics .. I will grant that I use LJ for political whining occasionally, but that's yet another reason why it's mostly locked...
I guess I just can't get into the Twitter thing; most people are lucky if I answer my e-mail same day, and I'm also way too cheap to run out & buy a smart phone that requires a data plan. Not Luddite, just lazy, and not into carrying that gadget around 24/7/365... that's just me...

And that's really the only way to do it, though I left this post unlocked. Normally I wouldn't - but, like I said, I still keep it mostly to twitter these days.
And you're right, twitter is a veritable time-suck, and I don't keep up with it as much as a lot of folks do. But when there's something big going on that's newsworthy, I have been alerted to it via twitter more often that not, and I've found I will discuss it there more than I will here. I'm not sure I did it so consciously either.

{{smash hugs}}! It's good to see you too. I know how busy you are, especially with as much traveling as you do.
I think a lot of us don't keep up as much as we'd like to. I know I don't, but I do still like the format, and I'm also grateful for the folks who still post here. So I'll stick with it as long as it's around. :)
Happy New Year, lady!

I guess I totally agree with you on the political facts. We have our election is two months and I am laready fed up to hear them babbling and bashing.
I just want to vote.

OMG, I'm so with you there. It's been relentless for over two years with the plethora of negative campaign ads. Now we have a bit of a break - well, until the midterm elections in two years, which means campaign ads will be starting in less than a year. Ugh!
