Lazy Sunday

Actually I have a lot I could be doing, like a mountain of ironing hanging in the laundry room that I just can't get motivated to tackle, even though I have two Lifetime movies on the dvr to take my mind off the task (Flowers in the Attic and Lizzie Borden Took an Ax). But, you know, better to put off til tomorrow what you should be doing today - ( Read more... )

Just posted a couple of minutes ago, then got to your journal entry. Seems as if we are talking about many of the same things.
Liked the Supernatural episode last week. Lot of good Dean moments. I like Sleepy Hollow as well but I am sure you heard me scream about the ending. And I kind of figured some of the twist at the end but not the whole thing.
Would like to see Black Sails but don't get Starz.

At least we know there will be a second season of Sleepy Hollow, so I'm okay with a cliffhanger ending. It's when we don't know or a series isn't renewed that it's very aggravating.

This week's episode of Supernatural is the best I've seen in a very long time. Now if only, for once, they manage to keep what looks like a long-overdue Dean storyline moving forward, and not dropped or given to another character, usually Sam, the way SOP normally dictates. Keeping my fingers crossed that this time it turns out differently!

Stay warm!

I was stunned by how good last weeks' SPN was. Maybe because it was all about Dean for once, and who doesn't love good Dean/Crowley scenes? I do not for the life of me understand why Sam hugged Castiel, though.

I'm spending all my time on HuluPlus, watching Canadian and UK shows.

I also gave up on Downton after what they did to Anna. Was that really necessary? I'd rather her not have a storyline of her own if that's what they give her. I bowl on Sunday nights now anyway, and barely made it home in time to watch Sherlock. Hopefully tonight's game will go much faster so I can settle in before the opening credits. I must enjoy the 4 1/2 hours of Sherlock we get this year :)

We were at single digit temps early last week, and today it was 55. Crazy.

Yeah, I wanted to talk about the episode in this post, but it got long and we were heading out the door. Going to try and talk about it maybe tomorrow. Gives me an excuse to post two days in a row! ;)

But, IA, it was surprisingly satisfying. I've actually watched it more than once - well, the Dean/Crowley/Cain parts. Could care less about the Sam/Castiel parts that were very clearly shoehorned in to satisfy a certain contingent of fans who have been wanting those two to interact. Thing is, they have interacted before - but they have no chemistry whatsoever, and nothing that transpires between those two characters is believable.

I HATE THE ANNA STORY on Downton Abbey! And not just because of the horrible rape in and of itself. It's the incredibly predictable and stupid way it's set up, but worse than that, it's the even ( ... )

It's great to see Banshee doing well, as it stars our local boy Antony Starr, who is a sweetheart. He's most famous in NZ for playing twins, one an evil lawyer, the other a doofus, in Outrageous Fortune (remade in America as Scoundrels, but it flopped). He was incredible. I watched the first ep of Banshee, but much as I love Antony, I couldn't stomach the violence.

I don't think I'll be watching Rake, as the Australian original was absolutely brilliant and it sounds as if they've wrecked it in translation. It depends a lot on the raffish charm of the lead, and I can't see Greg Kinnear nailing that.

My pick of the new season is definitely True Detective. Matthew McConaughy is a revelation - who knew he could do that?

Yeah, I knew he was a NZ'er, and I'm tickled to hear he's such a sweetie. And adorable too! And sexy as hell. I don't think there's any woman left in town his character hasn't slept with. LOL!

It is violent, but almost in a OTT cartoon kind of way. It's very much like Spartacus in that regard. The writing is excellent - it was one of the best things we tuned into last year. Didn't know what to expect, but we were immediately hooked.

I heard Rake was a remake, and I also read recently that there were problems with the pilot episode - lots of rewrites or something. Everything about it felt off, and none of the characters are very likable. Too bad because I was looking forward to it originally.

First - We have -30 wind chill with 25 mph winds. And snow up to our eyeballs. Would you like to trade so you can wear more of your cold weather clothes? :-)

Second - I love talking TV with you!

Helix - gave it the first three episodes and realized it was way more "horror movie" than I expected and abandoned it.

Looking - I agree it started off slow, but I do love how adorable Jonathan Groff's character is and I like Dom - who I suspect is the one that's going to hook up with Scott Bakula. Hope he's in it tonight! So yeah, I'm going to stick with this one.

Dracula - I watched all the eps as well and I too thought it was just okay. I love Jonathan Rhys Meyers but thought his acting talents were completely wasted in this role. I doubt it'll be back for a second season.

Sleepy Hollow - already missing it! :-)

Yeah, I don't like it that much. LOL! But I definitely feel for you. That's what I mean about keeping it in perspective whenever I hear people down here bitching about the "cold" weather, because it's really not so much.

Also looking forward to Russell Tovey showing up next week too - I hope ( ... )
