sixteen fancies

[It had been a slow, lazy day for Anne. Arthur had been out and about (and a little crankier than usual, though she didn't know why), and she had spent most of her day curled up inside, alternating between reading a book and staring out the window, dreaming. She had thought about going to visit Todd, but every time she did, she got the queerest ( Read more... )

boys can like boys?, a thoroughly modern lesson, anne's first heartbreak, perfect graveyard of buried hopes, video, action, sorry neil, this is embarrassing, so romantic

It feels like the snap of a rubber band-- one moment he's going about his business, sitting on a bench and looking at the Network, not bothering to note the time. The next, he's falling-- not as far, not as fast as he ought to be to cover the distance he's apparently traveled. All the way home as it happens-- and he has only half a second to process the sight of his own door looming above him before something else-- no, someone-- lands on top of him. And another thud thereafter, duller and smaller, just as quickly.

Bodies, she quickly realizes, and scrambles off with hurried apologies. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry, I don't what happened. TODD!" she exclaims joyfully, recognizing the two boys. "Neil! Why are you here? Well, not why you're here, obviously, because this is your apartment, but why are you out here and not inside? You seemed to fly over, just like I did. Why do you think we flew over? Is it some kind of flying curse day?"

Neil is a bit disoriented, not only by the sudden change of scenery but by having the wind knocked out of him twice in short succession. Anne's voice provides the identity of both blows as the weight on his chest lessens. City-Dead or not it's an uncomfortable position to be stuck in, and he helps Todd off him with a shove. he manages to sit up then, blinking as though he can catch up to the present if he sits and thinks about it for a moment.

"I was in the square?" he explains hopelessly, oblivious to the reasoning behind their mass arrival.

[Watching and considering mentioning that... well, everyone else could be watching too, but that wouldn't be much fun. It's like a soap opera.]

[She's only home for a couple hours, but this show totally makes Kate's night. This bowl of popcorn will be put to good use.]
