Today life suddenly became a much much friendlier place. Bush finally did something useful and signed the College Cost Reduction and Access act which included a provision forgiving the balance of my loans if I work in a non-profit (which nearly all museums are) for ten years. Apparently the House and Senate just passed a bill (hr 2669) that would forgive student loans to students that spend ten years working in non-profit organizations, considering that I'm currently on the 25 year plan for paying off my $74,000 of debt from grad school this news has made my week! According to the tv show Bones the people that own Lincoln's hat and Muhammad Ali's boxing gloves (aka the Smithsonian) also solve grisly murders, why are they not teaching this in any of my classes?!? Also, I feel the male to female ratio of that show totally misrepresents how many men are actually involved in museum work.

Tonight I officially survived my first and last Harry Potter book release at Borders, aside from it being about 1200 degrees once everybody got into the store and people being idiots about how to get in a line things actually went really smoothly and there were no major calamities to report.
