Good news! I stayed there too but don't remember the bathroom.. just a little man dragging us all out of bed early in the morning

i don't think i've ever seen a real, live nun... are they as terrifying as i've been lead to believe?

I didn´t see a single nun while I was there!

I think all things considered that I´m probably quite happy about that.

At the other nun-run place in Carrion, you do get to see nuns- some lovely youngish, very welcoming ones, with beautiful smiles. I got so used to the grumpy hospitaleros that were more the norm in Spain, that their welcome came as quite a surprise. And in the evening they had singing that pilgrims could go to, with pilgrims crowded in the foyer and up the stairs... then they handed out little stars and a blessing to finish.

All the ones I met were lovely. I was especially impressed by the singing at the Monasterio at Leon.. although it was a little wierd seeing them singing from behind a metal grill.
