The perfect proposal and more apologies

::hates hates hates:: Way to start a post, I know, but my computer has broken down, I can't get online or check my emails and I feel so lost! Right now I'm at the university computer lab and it sucks! Something needs to be done about my software and internet connection at home, but as I'm completely clueless and only have clueless friends who study ( Read more... )

Sorry about the computer. Technology hates me as well so I feel for you.

As for the public proposals, I am right there with you in my hate. No, really, I HATE them. I would've said no on principal if Mr. Q would've tried that shit. And I always can't help but feel that the guy thinks she might actually say no if he doesn't do it in a high pressure "yes!" environment.

I don't like the idea of public proposals either. Unless the public place has some sort of deeper meaning. Like maybe it was the location of a first kiss or the couple's favorite place. Then I can see a public proposal.

But most do seem rather desperate. You're forced to say yes or risk disapproval from the crowd. Really rather unfair.

God, I feel exactly the same. What a relief. I'm not the only one. BTW, turns out she was actually the one who wanted a public proposal, because her brother had done that for her sis in law and apparantly she loved the idea. Crazy. But at least, let's not blame the poor guy for once.

And I always can't help but feel that the guy thinks she might actually say no if he doesn't do it in a high pressure "yes!" environment.

In general, I think the same.

I don't seem to understand what the problem to your computer is. When you're on line again could you tell me more? Is it possible you got a virus? I think you should better take your comp (just the tower) and get it to a technisian.

Public proposals.... yikes! I hate them too, but I guess whatever floats one's boat. I think it makes it impossible for the person which gets the proposal to say no. And nothing public spells romantic to me.

However, I'm not the best person to ask because I don't like proposals in general. Mr. Soph never did it. I never did it. Most the couples I know never did it. So...

I don't know what the problem with my comp is, either! The people at the hotline didn't know, a techie friend I called at home didn't know, but somehow I got it fixed for now. It's still damn slow and the connection is wonky. I think the problem is with my USB WLAN stick. It doesn't always work properly. My comp is also rather old, which doesn't help I guess. In short: I need a noteobook! ;-) Seriously though, last week without the internet was hell.

If you and Mr. Soph both didn't propose, then how did you get married? ;-)
