So, Soph, I assume you have read the last book by now, judging from your comments? Let's discuss!!! It took me a while to get over this book. I just didn't know what to say for a while other than that I really loved it.
For some reason, my expectations for the last book weren't that high,
Mine neither. But mainly because the HBP was too heavy with Ginny and I HATE her. In this book she was barely there so all was good.
I think she'd better have killed off Arthur
I can't agree more. At least Arthur had a full life. Remus' life was just really beginning for crying out loud! And Tonks? What purpose was there?
when he returns to the Forest, I did have a short moment of doubt,
No doupt here, but just because I caved in in the middle of the book and cast a glimpse at the ending. Hee. I couldn't help myself, but I didn't know who else lives or dies.
I expected to hate him there for a while
Never hated him for one moment. During the book I knew that some of the things Rita Skeeter said were true but taken out of context. I liked how the whole thing worked and I also thought that Dumbledore knew that Harry would not die when Tom AKed him. By the way wasn't it awsome that Harry kept calling Voldemort Tom at the end?
But mainly because the HBP was too heavy with Ginny and I HATE her.
I don't hate her, but there was way too much of the Ginny love in HBP, I agree. And when they finally kissed, it was rather anticlimatic. I can't say I missed her in DH and I'm glad it was really just the trio for most of the time.

Exactly, there was no purpose, unless she wanted to have another orphan, which just sucks.

It made him more human, more humble somehow, which is why I guess no one could hate him. But there was a moment when I didn't see the whole picture yet and I was rather anxious about how I'd

I don't know if you mention this somewhere else, but didn't it bother you that Harry "sees" Snape's memories and doesn't have a "wow he was good after all" moment? I thought it was rather anticlimatic and the only thing that really bothered me in the book.I didn't mention it, but I couldn't agree more. It bothered me especially because suddenly, in the epilogue, we learn Harry named his son after Snape - so he must have had many such "oh he was good after all" moments at some point, and I thought it would have been rather central to the books to show them

I completely agree.
I was so happy to see Neville having really grown into his own.
Neville rocked! I was so glad he killed a Horcrux.
but to the point where Molly could kill Bella?
Again, I agree. I suppose it's the "love" theme of the book but, oh well. Molly is not my favorite of persons either.
The whole Remus-runs-away-from-his-family plot was just stupid IMO.
Yep. I agree here too. Totally ruined the ship for me.
One thing I liked. Harry didn't "kill" Voldemort really. A thing I didn't like. Harry using Imperio and Crucius! What was that?
