The state of Michigan is so po’ it can’t afford the other “o” and the “r.”

My state has no money. That’s the long and short of it. For the past few months, Jenny from the Block (aka: Governor Jennifer Granholm) and the state legislature have been bickering over whether to raise taxes or make budget cuts to compensate for the lack of funds. Using whatever means, our witless leaders in Lansing must solve the budget crisis ( Read more... )

My first reaction is move. But knowing that is severely unlikely, I'm stumped.

It astounds me that the more people we have to solve these kinds of problems, the less gets solved. Does that make sense? The government, whether local or national, are supposed to be these highly intelligent (yet corrupt and corruptable) are the ones to be solving these problems. That's what we pay them for.

You'd think if you put that many highly educated and intelligent people together they could come up with some solution, even temporarily, if anything at all. You know what I mean?

Anyways, good luck to you. I hope you aren't personally affected by the state problems. And I hope they come up with a solution that works for everyone... without causing too much inconvience for others.

Because, despite your dear budget problems, you're still not 50th in education?/1st in teen pregnancy?/1st in HS dropouts?/1st in obesity?

Yay Mississippi. =\

I hope that the government can work it out, though. My dad worked at the Mississippi Department of Agriculutre and Commerce and if someone doesn't insepct the gas pumps, cheating happens. Here's hoping there's a filibuster or something to push through the budget.

Well, you know they're going to raise taxes before even thinking about a pay cut. They can't help sticking it to the little guy. They already pretty much agreed that they were going to raise income taxes (talk about a tax jack), and to tax services that were exempt before. Some of the services include tanning services, landscaping, and... damn I can't remember the others. Jenny that smokes a lot of rock also granted the state legislature a 30 day extension to finalize the budget ( ... )
