Heat : 40C every day for the last month and next week as well, until the monsoon bursts upon us.

Cyclones : not yet, but I'm watching the satellite feeds with great interest and attention.

Most of them are trees or large shrubs. Temperate-style flowers (small annual plants coming straight out of the ground) aren't really common in the tropics, except bulbs and rhizomes and such.
