Three months later and I'm finally getting around to sharing my One Tree Hill pictures from Wilmington. Just in time for the season premiere tonight!
This picture is the only picture that I was allowed to take anywhere near the OTH sets. Apparently, they've had problems with spoilers in the past, so no fun set pictures for me. It's really a shame too because there were tons of fun things that I would have loved to take pictures of that had absolutely nothing to do with plot spoilers. For example, the sign on Nathan and Haley's apartment that looked a little something like this:
Nathan's Apartment
Nathan and Haley's
Brooke's
Nathan's (again)
It was amusing, and I was really sad that I couldn't get a picture of it.
Other than the no pictures rule, the set tour was a lot of fun. Very interesting and informative. Pretty much everything is made out of wood and then painted to look like whatever surface it's supposed to be. I was really impressed with the attention to detail on each individual set. The things that stood out the most were the half burned candles in Nathan and Haley's apartment, and the refrigerator magnets and recipes on Dan and Deb's fridge. It's really neat how something so tiny can give you the feeling that people actually live there when you see it on TV.
They showed us how "wild walls" work. Some of the walls on some of the sets are rigged so that they can be pulled up and out of the way to make room for the camera crew. We also learned about how kitchens work in the world of television. The appliances are real, but they're never plugged in because they make too much noise. So if real food has to be used, it's kept in a cooler until filming starts and then put in the fridge. The blue cabinets in Dan and Deb's kitchen are not real cabinets. They don't open. So you will never see anyone getting anything from the blue cabinets. :)
And now, on to the pictures I took while we were driving around Wilmington.
Dan Scott Motors is really a Hyundai dealership. It was on the main road near our hotel. I think I took a picture of it every time we drove by.
And right next to Dan Scott Motors, we have Keith's body shop. *sniff*
I was on a crazy mission to drive by and take pictures of the houses from the show. And I owe a huge thank you to Josh for indulging my craziness and actually driving around to all these places so that I could get pictures. :)
First we have Karen and Lucas' house, which really didn't appear to be in the best neighborhood.
Next up, Dan and Deb's house. They have an exact replica of the exterior of the house in the studio, so I don't think they actually film on location there anymore.
And finally, Brooke's old house. This is the one I most wanted a picture of because of the significance of the red door. The first time we drove by, I couldn't get a picture because the gardeners were out watering the lawn... So we had to drive by again later. I felt like such a crazy stalker chick.
It's a little hard to recognize because of the trees, but this is the bridge from the opening credits. Also located in kind of a shady neighborhood.
Downtown, we have Karen's Cafe, which has a fun fake door. The fact that we couldn't go inside didn't stop me from taking these pictures through the windows...
Tric is located on the outskirts of town, if I remember correctly. Unfortunately, there were no trespassing signs posted all over, so I didn't get to take any pictures through the windows. :)
I just took this picture because I thought the boat was neat. I didn't realize until I saw a rerun of the episode that it's actually the boat where Nathan and Chris Keller gambled to get Haley's CD back.
Here we have the Rivercourt. This was one of my favorite things that we saw, even though there were no baskets. I'm still wondering why there were no baskets.
We did see some really fun grafitti though.
This one was my favorite! It's so nice to see him getting some love. :) The rest of the pole was covered with silly fangirls leaving their phone numbers thinking that Chad Michael Murray will actually call them! Now that I think about it, they may not be all that delusional considering how skanky he really is...
This is random, but it amused me.
See, when Whitey retires from coaching, he's already got another gig lined up. :) And I would laugh so hard if they actually used that on the show. I could totally see it! :)
And finally, my favorite random picture from the trip... :)
The Sunkist promos are everywhere!
