The boys talked sweet nothings in Jack's bed...
This one's for
silveredmoon who wanted to eavesdrop on the guys with the kids :)
“Why is Juno’s daddy in your bedroom?”
Shit. I thought I’d closed the door. I planned this little chat for later. “You mean Junior?”
“Yeah. Him.” Bobby stand with his hands on his hips, looking affronted on my behalf.
“Is he still in bed? Asleep?” Delay tactics. Nice one, Jack.
“Yeah.” Bobby drops his hands and suddenly looks concerned. “Is he sick?”
“No… why do you ask that?”
“Cos you’re making pancakes. You only make pancakes when I’m sick.”
Really? Am I that slack?
Bobby pokes his finger in the pancake mix I’m stirring. “And I heard him making some funny noises earlier.”
Double shit and fuck. I’d forgotten that the walls are pretty thin in this place. Plus Bobby sleeps like a bird - with one eye open. Or one ear in this case.
“No, he’s not sick. He came over to see me late last night, after you went to bed. He got real tired so stayed here to sleep.”
“Oh.” Bobby digests this for a moment. “Then why is he in your bed and not one of the empty ones?”
Oh boy, guess we need to have The Talk. I turn off the stove and sit Bobby on a kitchen stool next to me.
“Because he’s a good friend of mine, really good friend, and we like to sleep in the same bed together.”
“What, like Mommy and PJ do?”
“Yeah, like that.”
“But Juno’s daddy is a boy. And you are a boy. Mommy is a girl.”
“I know. But I like boys too.”
“Better than girls?”
“Uh huh.”
“Oh. Ok.” Pause. “Can I have some chocolate milk?”
I laugh and ruffle his hair before helping him down from the stool. “Sure, bud.”
Ennis appears a few moments later, looking drop dead sexy in a pair of my gym pants.
Bobby eyes him suspiciously. “Those are my dad’s,” he says, pointing at the pants.
“I know. “ Ennis nods, “I left mine at home so he’s letting me borrow them.”
I hand Ennis a mug of coffee. I figure he’ll need it this morning.
“Do you like boys too?” Bobby says as Ennis slurps a big mouthful.
I turn away, desperately trying not to laugh as I see Ennis struggle to swallow his coffee. He manages it but promptly starts to cough.
I take pity and move over to pat his back. “So, anyone for pancakes?”
