[Concert Report] Juusai - Kanjani8 (2019.07.20)

Jul 25, 2019 21:54

I went to Juugosai in Nagoya~ (for more about my Nagoya trip; click here)

We arrived at the dome about half an hour before it would open. There were a bunch of Kanjani8 flags with their characters on them that were really cute, so we spend some time taking pictures before going to buy the goods.

Why does Ryo look so angry in his uchiwa? I don’t get it. I still ended up buying it because the Cyanjani picture was so cute, but if it had just been the angry picture, I wouldn’t have bought it. I also got Yoko’s uchiwa, both of their photosets (at least Ryo is smiling in his photoset) and the pamphlet. The pamphlet is so good, I love it. I was really on the fence about the penlight, because I didn’t love it and I already have the Jam one, which is cute. But this one has colours and the Jam one only has red and Subaru wasn’t even my favourite… So after the concert I decided I would get the penlight in Fukuoka anyway. It seems easy to travel with than the bulky strawberry one anyway. The kanjani8 doll displayed was Ryo-chan! So happy. Thankfully we had enough time to get pictures of/with it.

We had very decent seats. They were ‘first row’ stand tickets, but there were three rows of special seats before them, so it felt more like fourth row. (Still pretty good seats). The concert started with a cartoon of Kanjani’s history and it included Uchi and Subaru! It was really nice!

Their first song was 8 o’clock! I was so happy. Years ago, when I was about to move to Leiden to university, in the car this song came up and I told my mum: “I bet they start concerts with this, I would love to be there.” or something like that. Now, 6 to 7 years later, it finally came true! They had updated the lyrics to be more current, so that was really great as well!

Then followed it up with Zukkoke Otokomichi, which I loved so much during gr8est but… Where is my Yoko main vocal? Where is him being the happiest more adorable hyper guy? So disappointed, legit. It was still really good, but man, I had been looking forward to it. My friend suggested that maybe it was because during gr8est they had been doing instruments and this time they were all free to move around. I miss my Yoko otokomichi.

The setlist was so good; they sang so many songs I absolutely love. They did a lot of dance songs with a lot of fan choreography as well (which I don’t really know because I’m a horrible fan). My friend knew them all, and she’s only been a fan for about a year and a half. (But then again she says she watches them daily, and it’s been months since I have seen anything at all I kinda gave up on watching stuff when my health deteriorated.)
I really love seeing them dance so much. They are so good <3

The technology people made a lot of mistakes during this concert. At the beginning the video on the big screen was completely out of focus, and they also had it go to black instead of to the next camera at one point. Twice the microphones weren’t on during a song; once for Tacchon during his duet with Maru and once for Yoko during his duet with Hina. And these are just the mistakes I noticed.

Ryo’s voice is just my favourite thing ever. This man is so good live, I just can’t. His voice is the best. Yasu and Maru were on point as well. Hina and Yoko did a lot of the harmonies and they were so good. Actually Hina was good the whole time. During Tacchon and Maru’s solo, Tacchon went super off tune. Like super off tune. He’s usually really good, so it surprised me (afterwards he was back to being good, of course). He was fidgeting with his earpiece as well, so that might have been the cause of it. Ryo-chan and Yasu’s duet was so good. I loved their outfits, and they had new mics. This time they were choco monaka jumbo ice creams. The ice cream mics seemed a bit harder to sing with and it was really cute to watch Ryo-chan try to sing in the mic part of it. (he was the closest to us, so I’m not sure how Yasu did it).

I had never heard Yoko and Hina’s duet before but I really loved the lyrics. It seemed to really suit them. Hina was so good! I think Yoko messed up slightly with his trumpet, and his singing was kind of shaky as well. His sustained notes were so good, but the beginning of his lines just wasn’t that good. So far, I’ve always been saying that I don’t get why people say Yoko can’t sing because I both love his voice and he has been good at the concerts I have been to, but this wasn’t his day. I’m sorry, I still love you though. (My friend on the other hand said she thought he was pretty good today; because she knew he wasn’t that good at singing, so maybe it’s just me).

The talked about the Music Day during the MC. They discussed Hina singing Cinderella Girl and how it didn’t suit him (and how he was the odd man out in his group) but did really well. They also discussed how Maru got scolded after his performance and he mentioned that in these 15 years he hadn’t changed at all. Yasu talked a lot during the MC, and he also did some of the introductions for the songs. So far, Ryo-chan always introduced the songs when I was there. We also so a lot of Yasu fans at Nagoya, so maybe it depends on the venue (since I’ve only seen them in Tokyo so far.) or maybe this tour just has a lot of Yasu talking~ So far when I have been there was always a lot of Yoko and Ryo-chan, but not this time xD The MC was also pretty short this time.

The insert video was so good! Oh my gosh, I loved it. The gunman and nightmares, them merging into each other, my very weird tendency to recognise them based on the smallest bodyparts (it’s kind of a creep talent, isn’t it?). The Cyanjani/8ranger video thingy on the other hand was really short, and not that special. They had to do a challenge and make a “love-love” picture. Yoko made them do it with a cockroach in their mouth (eww). Tacchon and Yasu were the victims, they took the pictures and that was the end of the corner.

The acoustic corner was really nice. They did daydream believer, followed by royal milk story~ There wasn’t a lot of band songs, but I liked how they were moving around a lot. For stage positions I was pretty lucky with Yoko and Ryo being closer to me. For the charts, Yasu, Maru and Hina came close to us, but of course not my three favs. They did however pass us in the encore on the larger chart. They 100% didn’t notice us at all, but it was amazing to be able to see them from so close.

And they sang Black of Night. I love that song so much and seeing them perform it live was amazing.

I really loved the encore, they sang so many songs. Yoko was super happy and energetic and dancing at every chance he got, and just overall really adorable. Gosh I love that man. I really liked their member coloured tie-dye shirts. I wish they sold those! I would so have bought Yoko’s one, since black is actually wearable.

The gintape didn’t come anywhere close to us, even with being so far in the front. There was no gun in our direction. A bunch of people went closer to the front where the staff would give people tape, but when I did someone just straight up pushed me, with two hands. Wow, rude much? The staff ended up not coming towards our place anyway, so I didn’t get anything xD.

Overall the setlist was amazing, the videos very good (except the little skit thing) and Ryo-chan’s voice and Yoko being an adorable person were the best. I loved how much they danced and how many songs they performed, I didn’t even might them cutting the skit/videos/MC. Give me all the songs!

And the best thing of all is that when it was over and I felt like I wanted to go again, this time I actually will! Fukuoka here we come! I’m really interested to see how things will differ. They’re probably singing another song after daydream believer, and of course the MC will change. Since we’re going to the Sunday show in Fukuoka we might get a double encore? I’m trying not to spoil myself xD
