After another busy week (I had volleyball as well as a friend who came to visit me, so all my evenings were filled) I had a rather disappointing weekend. I would never go to a hairdresser in Japan who hasn't worked with Westerners before but then I have incredibly fine hair. If they used chemicals at the strength needed for Japanese hair, it'd probably fall out.

That's what you'd think, but I have very fine hair too, which is why she was so surprised. She started out with the weakest solution, then going stronger and stronger to no effect. She was just confused how my hair could be so much lighter/finer/ yet still not react to the chemicals at all.
I don't really have much choice here, not many foreigners at all. Besides, she's really good at cutting my hair, and most hairdressers in the Netherlands struggled with it, so I'm rather happy to have found her xD Even if the perm was completely uneffective xD

I've never had a perm but if I get my hair coloured in Japan, it washes out after about 2 shampoos. If I get it coloured in Australia before going to Japan it lasts for ages. Same water, same shampoo and everything just different products.

Most hairdressers I've had in Japan have been super meticulous about cutting.

Weird; every foreigner I know who's gotten a perm done in Japan had the opposite problem - it was way too strong and made their hair crazy curly because the chemicals needed for Japanese hair are really strong. Maybe you just have diamond-level strength hair? Although... Aren't you a redhead? Or Strawberry blonde? I hear that color hair is very resistant to change. My redheaded uni roommate could never do anything to change her hair because it'd just reject it.

Also, it's cool if you don't wanna say, but I'm super curious about your results for Upd8 and Parade.
