so done with wishing you were still here

ahhhh, what a fantastic weekend. It didn't start out great though.

I got up early Friday morning to go into work a little early and turn in my notice to my boss so I wouldn't have to do it while all my co-workers were there. We are a nosy bunch and everyone knows that the only reason one shuts the ED's door is when you are having your review or you are quitting. I'd already been cornered by my co-workers when I informed the ED that I was looking around for new jobs. I just wanted to be able to tell him and then tell the office on my own terms. But anyways, after getting up and out the door early, I see my car has a flat tire. I don't know what it is, but seriously. Does anyone else EVER get flat tires? I get one like every 6 months. It blows!

So, head inside to call AAA and call my ED and tell him I will be in late. I was leaving work early that day also for my Chicago trip. AAA says they will be there in an hour. Sit and wait. No AAA. Call again, they forgot to put me in the system. BITE ME. Now it is 9am and they say they will be here in another hour. Finally the guy gets there at like 10:15am. Change tire. I drive out to the tire place because there is no way that the tire is really flat, it is only a year old. The tire place is half an hour away, get there, they find a leak and fix it and I am at work at 11:30am when I was supposed to be leaving. Take care of a few things, turn in my notice (where my favorite part of the talk was to tell him that had they offered me the TNT job I would have probably been with them for years, and the total look of panic that crossed his face), and leave at 12:30 so Betsy can pick me up at 1pm and take me to the airport. She is delayed and finally gets me at 1:45pm. We grab lunch and she drops me off at 2:30pm for my 3:30 flight.

Arrive at O'Hare, try to locate the Julie, hop on the blue line and get to her apt. It is the cutest thing. I want it. Old row house, hard wood floors, 12 foot ceilings, 6 foot windows. Perfect size for one person.

Grab dinner at a little pizza place across the street, watch some b-ball and get ready. Her friend Timmy got there and we headed out around 8:30pm to head downtown. Get to a great little bar called Celtic Crossing. Fantastic, fantastic. Tip: If you want to get everyone's attention, wear a kilt. Timmy was wearing one and thus everyone in the bar was his new best friend. I spent a total of $20 that night and that was for the first round for me, Julie and Timmy and one other drink. Other then that, random Irish men and local's supported my drinking habit for the night. There are lots of pictures of the night, I'm just waiting for Julie to email them to me.

The night consisted of dancing, laughter, and meeting new fun people. Can't really tell you all that happened, it's a blur. But my favorite part of the night was meeting my new friend Luke. We were standing there and got to talking and discovered that he lives about a mile from me in St. Paul. Continue to find out that he went to Mounds View his freshman year of HS while I was a sophomore. I need to dig out my yearbook!

Hop in a taxi back to the apt, and crash on the couch under many layers of blankets (Julie's apt is FREEZING, the only downfall). Timmy laid on top of the blankets and I poked my head out and said, "Ho Cheese, Julie, save me." My inner-Minnesotan got the better of my vocabulary skills while trying to say "oh jezz".

Up and at 'em early for some reason. We headed downtown to shop and hang out. Saw the green river, tried to win Wicked tickets, twice, didn't win. Spent lots of money, bought a fantastic new pair of shoes and a new suit coat. We headed back to her apt around 6pm, chilled, headed to a local bar for dinner and then back to her place again to watch some b-ball. I fell asleep on the couch early.

Awake early again to get breakfast and then hop on the blue line to get to the airport for my noon flight home. Got home, Laura was lovely enough to pick me up and drive me home. Ran around taking care of things, down to the Women's Expo in St. Paul to pick up and tear down the LLS booth. That was grand old time because it was at the same time as the Wild game. Hit the gym, went home and crashed again. Just so tired lately.

And now this week so far, spent all day yesterday in the car for work delivering things. That was after the fun of telling everyone I am leaving. They are all really happy for me and totally supportive. They understand why I am leaving and know I deserve more.

Tonight is the Wild game with jefefery. I am super pumped because I have never been to a Wild game before! I'm a geek, this I know.
