silly Word. (whiny)

My resume is currently written in Word, because it's still just a modified version of the one I wrote in High School, before I started using LaTeX. At my parents' last night, I'd brought my knitting but left my homework at home, so figured I'd do what I could to extract the information from my resume into at least a text editor (rather than "word processor"), but was silly and spent awhile trying to get X-forwarding to work on my sister's old Windows98 machine. Granted, I didn't end up getting any resume work done, but I did plunk around and figure out some stuff about Cygwin and stuff (and that Windows98, unlike XP, requires the (long since lost) install cds for Dvorak). I really don't think I deserved the diatribe from my mother this morning about how, yes i may not like Microsoft, but the rest of the world uses it, and I really ought to just get used to using Word or I'm crippling myself. I mean, the whole point of this is that I was using that computer *because* it had Word! And I really don't think my mother's love of WYSIWIG formatting and complicated templates and formats justifies *my* resume being in a program *I* don't like. Maybe I'll just put Cygwin on the career center PCs, which at least recognize Dvorak, and have more than 10G storage.
