gah. Who was that other dean, who was generally considered disagreeable... For some reason the name randolph came to mind, but now i'm questioning that. Anyhow.
*blink* I'm impressed she could go so far. If she made it without those degrees, well, it actually says a lot about her abilities. What did you think of her?
Much of my opinion of her is based on a paper she wrote about Millennials, as well as reactions people (ie my parents and my friends) have had to meeting her, and her words. While I was somewhat insulted to be grouped generationally as a millennial, I think of her as a neat person who had some cool ideas. I've also heard good things about the admissions office in general (as compared to most of the rest of the administration), which she must have influenced, so that also counts as a point in her favour. Hearing this, I am concerned about my own ability to get a job with limited credentials (a BS doesn't hold the clout it apparently used to), but those I can change myself by doing more and improving myself. What worries me more is the implication that merit and ability alone are not seen as sufficient, not only for aquiring a job but for keeping it. My mother has surprised some of her friends in her study group (Fortnightly of Eugene) by not having an advanced degree, and that's not even a job. Discrimination runs rampant. That is not

This just shows how far someone can go without a degreee :) *giggles*
My dad graduated only with a 2 year degree in forestry and was employed with the Department of Transportation as a road design engineer and project manager for like 8 years. He did a great job and got lots of awards... It just goes to show ya I suppose.
