It takes practice.

Also, you might find that understanding where the patterns come from is useful.

I don't think HTML is turing-complete, but it looks like this is a case where knowlege of HTML might be helpful anyway.

And this, in fact, does not seem to make much sense to me. Like, under plain hunt minor, I think the column with six numbers makes sense, but the columns with two numbers and four periods do not. And shouldn't there be another 123456 at the very top?

Ah, I also meant coding as in, being able to write a program describing the necessary rules to generate a method, or perhaps requesting input of such rules, and outputting a nice format (preferably nicer than that above).

Suppose you have the 1 and 2 bells in your hands. In which positions do you ring?
What if, instead, you are holding the 3-4 bells? The 5-6?
Those positions comprise the numbers in the 3 subsequent columns,
while the spaces you would leave for other bells to ring are the dots.
Does that make it any clearer? Again, colour would help--I'll try to arrange it.

okay, THERE IS COLOUR. well, for plain hunt anyhow.
so, it would be really easy to make treble bob colourful too, now. hmm...
and no, i didn't use any fancy text editors with search-and-replace.
do you see yet why it might help for me to learn more about using computers properly?
like, writing in coloured pencil and photographing it would've been faster.

Whiteboards are awesome that way. You'll find that even hardcore computer geeks often have whiteboards.
