She went home yesterday and the ward is SO quiet. She's a proper loudmouth. She was great though. She's 54 and used to be a nurse, and so when they told her she had cancer of the anus, and the extent of her tumour, she knew exactly what was going to happen. We had a bloke who that happened to when I was a junior in Peterborough. I remember being introduced to him by the staff nurse on the first ward round, "This is mr X. He came in for AP resection and grafting but the graft didnt take and instead he's turned into the world's first human glove puppet."

Ha! I wish she was still here so I could tell her, she'd love that. Did that guy eventually get fixed up, do you know? I'm just really hoping her skin somehow repairs but I guess it doesn't look too good for her :(

I don't know about him because he was discharged to district nurse care soon after and we didn't ever really hear much about the ones who left hospital. It is sometimes possible to get a successful graft by waiting for the effects of the radiation to heal for a longer time period. Hope your friend can get a repair in the future.
