UGH YES, EXACTLY, the handshake was amazing, but the hug was like, "..." IT WAS SO HORRIFICALLY AWKWARD. And I mean, Ben is an awkward human being, but even so, where are the weird feelings in my pants like when I used to climb the rope in gym class? THERE IS NO NEED TO MAKE IT A CLOWN HOUSE SITUATION HERE, PARKS, STICK WITH WHAT MAKES YOU YOU. I've at least seen Schur/Poehler/et al talking about how characters on their show bone like normal people, so at least they're AWARE of that, so I'm hoping they won't drag it out much longer, I TOO WAS HOPING THEY WOULD KISS IN A CORN MAZE OR SOMETHING AT THE HARVEST FESTIVAL AND MY HOPES WERE CRUELLY DASHED. WITHOUT ANY OBSTACLES THIS BETTER GET MOVING TOWARD BONETOWN.
And seriously, Tom has a very real point (haha, also, like, Ben's been there "state auditing" till Harvest Festival, but I feel like Chris was having to cancel lunches with Ann because HE WAS DOING ALL BEN'S WORK BECAUSE BEN HAD DECIDED HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE PARKS DEPT AND NO ONE SEEMED TO NOTICE?? What kind of workplace is
And then William Bell, currently possessing the body of Olivia Dunham, says, "Well, stranger things have happened." And then Lincoln Lee, FBI, stares at him and after a second says, "No, they haven't."
ZOMG we caught up on the last two episodes yesterday and I was also struck by this being the best line ever.
HAHA oh man, I wish I had been awesome enough to understand that reference b-before I just googled it a second ago.
BUT SERIOUSLY, AMAZING. God, every time she opened her mouth and his creepy-ass cadences came out (not creepy in Spock's mouth! Creepy in Olivia's, though!) I did not even know what to do with myself. Every moment of that episode my brain could not believe it was actually happening.
One thing Leslie and Scully have in common; they're both in male dominated professions (government) and yet you never get the feeling they're just there to prove themselves or to prove a point of gender equality. They're there because they want to be. Its their interest and they pursued it.
But I do find it fascinating Mulder's 'issues' were revealed early on, like an open book (like all those nutty emotional women folk!!11) where as the writers took their time with Scully...who even knew she HAD a sister the first few episodes?
I don't regularly watch Parks and Rec and don't really know all the characters but I laughed at all the X-Files talk. Fairly recently I was reading the new X-Files reviews on The Onion's AV Club and it made me watch again so I've been watching old episodes and reading fic and...though it's been a good 10 years or so actually writing something. I'll probably never post it but it's been fun to remember my favorite, bizarre ships and stuff.
Also love the Stabler/Benson conversations. And yes, it's a contest between who is more messed up between them. They had a whole marathon yesterday themed "Out of Bounds" or something with an SVU cop doing something they shouldn't. Which is like every single episode.
