I desided this morning that I am going to quit smoking. I ran out of cigeretes last night and I haven't gotten a replacement pack. I woke up this morning all smelly since I went to the bar last night and I just was ready to be sick. I don't want to be smelly anymore. I think that's a great decision to make. I think you'll probably be happier and healthier. Hmm, means I need to come up with new pretenses to get out of situations at parties, though.

I can just see it now:
'Julie, you need to smoke.'
'No I don't, I quit, remember.'
'Oh, yeah. Um, you have this intense need for a breath of fresh air on the front porch, then, right?'

You know that's not a bad reference. Since I am a very claustrophobic person, getting the chance to get out and get a breath of fresh air is always good. And I use that ruse a lot. For more than a quick conversation.

Quit now
Sooner is better than later

As for the 'you need to smoke' issue?
You may use the "will you supervise me?" or the ever popular "you need supervision" as a code to step outside for what ever reason.

Good luck! And congratulations on taking that first step.
I know it can be hard and not everyone can socially smoke. I used to only socially smoke until I realized how nasty I smelled and tasted. And realized how sick it was making me (I didn't know I was allergic until I moved out of my parents house because I was so used to it.
