Movie Review of The Dark Knight Rises

I think there have been very few movies amongst the throng that I've seen for the past few years that have lit me up from within when I have gone to see them and felt like that I gotten the most out of the money I'd spent watching it.

This is one of them.

The last 2 movies that affected me, in thought and mood long after I'd left the movie theater is Inception and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

The movie starts off with the flight sequence in which 3 people, terrorists and aides of Bane are exchanged and mid-air one of the terrorists is revealed to be Bane, who proceeds to hijack the airplane with the help of back-up and captures a Russian scientist brought aboard the plane and then then helps fake the scientist's death.

The next scene moves to Harvey Dent Day celebrations, a private party held at Wayne Manor. Commissioner Gordon seems willing to be wanting to speak the truth about him, but decides to postpone the announcement indefinitely, feeling it's not yet time for Gotham to know the truth; they are not yet capable of handling it.

A server(Anne Hathaway) goes to deliver dinner in the Manor to Bruce Wayne and seems innocently curious about everything in the room, till Bruce discovers the open and empty uncrackable safe, and the contents-a pearl set belonging to his mother- adorning the maid. She proceeds to disable him, kicking his walking stick away and somersaulting away with the piece. Bruce discovers that she was actually lifting his fingerprints off the safe and concludes that she's a hire, the necklace she means to keep for herself. And that the thief is called Selina Kyle, a convicted 'cat' burgler. Thus begins the story.

I am not going to give a complete summary of the film, Wiki it for that. But may I say, one of the most brilliant movies ever made. Unlike the other Batman franchises, this trilogy has been darker, delving deep into the psyche of the man that is Bruce Wayne, a man shaped by the pain that he has faced since the murder of his parents, the murder of the girl he loved, and the hopelessness he feels at times.

Alfred, who cannot bear to see the young master that he raised to be killed on his watch, quits his job to bring home the realization of what would happen should he continue pursuing the role of Batman, that he takes up once more after eight long years, after being convinced by John Blake, a police officer who comes to Wayne Manor to talk to him about Commissioner Gordon getting shot and about figuring out Bruce's identity and nudging him to step in once more.

What I really liked most was how the characters were made important and relevant in their roles, no bullshit no unnecessary drama. Miranda Tate's role, for example, was good. Seemingly supportive role from the beginning, turning to an unexpected mastermind in the thrilling end. To me, I was looking forward to Anne Hathaway's performance as Selina Kyle/Catwoman. She is known more for her comedic roles, and me being a fan, I wanted to see the limits that she would test with her acting chops. Certainly delivers, especially the martial arts that she unleashes on her opponents.

Christian Bale is....Christian Bale. Mindblowing-ly good, he creates and wears on the persona of Bruce Wayne and Batman like no other.

The end is the most unexpected and the most positive, given the melancholy end of the last movie of the series. I always knew the end would be something like this, but oh wow, did I feel good seeing it.

All I have been able to think about the past couple of days is The Dark Knight Rises. Nothing else works my mind, or is working my mind.

I think it is one of those movies, which you can watch over and over again and still get thrilled like you're watching it for the very first time. Speaking of watching over and over, me and sis decided that my parents have to see this movie, so we are going again this Friday: Family Pack. sitmuk08, me, dipannitab2010, and our parents. This is gonna be fun. I just CANNOT wait to see it again. xD

And that BatPod. I want one.
