SIGHT & SOUND'S
THE 250 GREATEST FILMS POLL
2012 + I must say, even with being a film major, I have not seen very many of those movies at all. I have only seen a pathetic 48 out of 250. This must be remedied as soon as possible, starting with the French New Wave.
+ Vertigo (1) is definitely not one of my favorites. I do appreciate it, but it's a little too over-the-top for my taste. As far as Hitchcock goes, I much prefer Rear Window (53) and, especially, Notorious (171).
+ Ugh, I hate Mulholland Dr (28). (And, no, it is not because I don't "get" it. I get it. I just don't give a shit.)
+ La Jetee (50)! I did not expect that! Such a brilliant, beautiful movie. Infinitely more moving than 12 Monkeys (which it inspired).
+ I'm starting to think that I might actually love Manhattan (202) even more than Annie Hall (127) now. Possibly even more than Hannah and Her Sisters! I don't know! What is going on!? But at least in this moment I just feel incredibly drawn to Manhattan.
+ E.T. (183) should be so much fucking higher.
+ If A Clockwork Orange (235) must be on the list, I'm just glad it's tied with like 20 other movies for last place.
Discuss.
