Another LJ Post

So, yet another of my friends "moved" his blog to a different interface. He is cross-posting to LJ, but it's no longer the same. This is the upshot of a comment I just left for him, scrolling back to find the last actual LJ post he made...I wanted to express to you that I'm loath to comment when I see a pile of instructions telling me to log in ( Read more... )

I still use LJ as my primary blog, and let LJ feed my Facebook. That being said, I also stopped posting pictures here and feed here from Flickr instead, and let Flickr feed my FB page as well.

I find myself writing less meaningful LJ entries these days. Sadly, I find myself making more pithy Tweets (which feed to my FB status) than sinking my teeth into a good long post.

Once upon a time I used to have pen-pals and would write 10-20 page letters by hand. That degraded to 1-2 page LJ posts. Now the world of 140-characters or less. I'm reminded of two limericks:
There once was a man from Kalamazoo
Whose limericks ended at line two.

and the follow up:
There once was a man from Verdun

You are one of the rare birds using multiple interfaces in unique ways... not just cross-posting tweets back to LJ (which annoys me bigtime!)

And such lovely handwriting you have my dear... what a gift to have received a long hand-written letter from you!

Sometimes I really miss sitting in cafés or my favourite taverna and spending hours writing letters instead of sitting at home and spending hours in front of glowing square. And getting beautifully decorated envelopes in the mail and cassettes filled with music I had never heard before was always a treat.

Before LJ (well, really, before I even had the internet), I used to write really long letters. Now, I can barely write more than three sentences by hand!
