I finally imported my LJ to Dreamwidth, including my friends list. I think that means my LJ friends are automatically given access to my Dreamwidth account, correct? (Assuming they go to Dreamwidth to read it

It's not quite automatic - I think if someone has a different user name on DW than they do on LJ, or if they don't have a DW account at all, they won't cross over. So you may need to hunt some people up. I never imported my LJ flist, since 3/4th of it is dead or inactive journals or people who have moved on to some other fandom, so I'm not totally certain about the details.
OK, looks what it does is create OpenID accounts for everyone on your flist. Those are cross-platform accounts that will let someone who doesn't have a proper DW account make logged in comments or see locked content on your journal, etc

Okay, that totally clears it up for me. Thank you!
It's pretty much the conclusion I finally reached, except for the part about the OpenId accounts and whether I needed to subscribe to those or not. So now I know...not! Heh.
You always know the technical stuff forwards and backwards. I guess I was just hoping it would be quick and easy without having to hunt down the DW accounts. Sometimes I just like to take the lazy way out. ;-)
You're welcome! In this case - it's a been there, done that. I have something in my entries, first made for greatest journal to add people via the admin console, that adds friends with the same name on LJ with some work. But you could end up friending people that aren't the same on LJ.
When checking out the entry where I had the info, I've found something for DW:
Quote: Enter a LiveJournal username to check. This will fetch a list of your LiveJournal friends, and will then check to see if Dreamwidth accounts with the same names exist. (Note: even if a Dreamwidth username exists, it is not necessarily the same person as the LiveJournal username!Found you now and added you. And it seems I haven't friended everyone I have at LJ either, have to check myself
