Longish thoughts on Buffy S9 #7 (and also...I miss my Mac!)

First off, don’t get me wrong…I like my new (-ish) PC, especially since it would’ve taken me a lot longer to get back online if I’d waited till I could save up enough to buy a Mac. (Pets PC.) But I do miss some of the quick-and-easy Mac features like click-and-drag screen shots (that grab only what I want to grab, not the whole screen) and iPhoto ( Read more... )

Still, there’s a difference between being unhappy with the way a story is going and sheer self delusion. Please help me always remember that.I'm not sure you can ever go too far in overestimating shippers capacity for "sheer self delusion", LOL! I gave up on season 8 in progress (I realized I didn't recognize any of the characters) but followed it kinda/ sorta from comments on my friend's list though I did break down and read the whole thing after the fact. I do read season 9. I remember the spuffy camp looking for things to support Our Ship-- there was a scene on the bug-ship that sparked several fics and a lot of comments. And there are some truly crazy people on the forums, which is why I only occasionally lurk there. Though (oddly!) I've seen more crazy Buffy/Xander shippers than bangels; have I missed a good wank? Links please ( ... )

I stumbled across an anti-Spike/pro-Bangel’s interpretation of the characters and storyline.

See, I don't see why one would have to be anti- one character in order to ship a certain couple. I ship Spuffy, but I don't have to hate Angel. Granted, he's not my most favorite character, but he isn't my least favorite, either. Mostly, I'm just anti- Angel with Buffy because I find that they don't bring out the best in each other. Put them in the same room, and it's like they both lose IQ points. :-P Even if Buffy weren't with Spike--or Spike never even existed--I still wouldn't want her with Angel. I don't have to be anti-Angel in order to be pro-Spuffy; and, if I were going to hate Angel, I'd hate him on his own merits and not because he interfered with my ship.

People's ability to delude themselves never ceases to amaze me. :-P

Those arguments about Spuffy always give me a lift. If people who don't want to see Spuffy have to turn themselves into such pretzels in order to make themselves feel better about the current story line, then I'd say there's some serious Spuffy happening.

I also very much loved that Spike stood up for himself.

And big word about the out of the blueness of the robot thing. It does feel like a cheat, but I'm willing to see how they play it out.

I agree. It seems like fan fiction is much less likely to be frustrating that way.

Hold the ALT key down while you hit PRTSCR button, then it only captures the active window. But that dragging and dropping sure sounds handy.
