silly little question

Okay, this is only one line in ToF and it really doesn't matter that much, but if you had to describe Seth in terms of a dog, what kind of dog would he be? For example, we all know Luke is a big golden retriever. Like I said it's not really important, and I could change the paragraph, but now that I've started thinking about it, I'm like a dog with ( Read more... )

The first thing that came to mind was a greyhound - fast on his feet, but gangly and skinny.
Not much help, but that's what popped in.

I hadn't thought of a greyhound, but gangly and skinny is certainly an accurate description.

Thanks.

I don't know much about dogs. All of ours while I was growing up were strays that wondered onto the farm and never left. I had to look up a springer spaniel for the description. It seemed like a fair likeness to me.

Thanks.

So very true, but Seth is describing himself. I think he would think of himself as a bit more of a noble breed.

Thanks for your input.

As long as he's not a pug. My Rupert was a pug.

Not to worry. I don't see him as a pug.

Very quick drive by and this jumped out at me. Let's see, Barbara... Something uncoordinated, so nothing sleek and streamlined and aerodynamic. Something gangly with a coat that had a life of it's own and was dark and rather long. Something VERY yappy, hyper, uncontrollable and demanding incessant attention, so it would have to be high-maintenance and high-strung. Now, if only I knew dogs! Yappy, scrawny, dark, long-haired, one-track-minded and in desperate need of obedience school- hmmm...

Maybe some kind of dark terrier like poodle mix if you can look it up? Schnauzer mix? Dark/black cocker spaniel mix? Some kind of shepherd mix? Australian? Sorry! I added some traits anyway! (And still trying to get to comment before I have to leave again.)

I don't know dogs, either, besides the basic ones...retrievers, poodles, german shepherds. High maintenance and high-strung are certainly the traits that define Seth.
Thanks for the help.

Don't ask me where the day went, but it's still officially Saturday by about 14 minutes.

I see you might be going with the cock- as in cocker spaniel. Hee. If it had a perm and was underfed and loved the sound of it's own... voice, we'd have a true winner!

I did just reread your amazing chapter, but I don't think I'm awake enough to formulate an actual thought. I owe you far better!

Others have mentioned some type of spaniel. It seems to fit. I don't think Seth is stupid, but I have never thought of him as sensible (at least not the canon version). However, he is loyal like I would consider a sheep dog to be.

Thanks for the input.
