Drove to Athens last night to see Neko Case at the 40 Watt. I had never been there before but it's a pretty small little joint, so I knew it would be a good show. I love it when artists sound the same live as on the records! (Seriously, there's nothing which pisses me off more than a band that's brilliant when you hear the recordings, and then turns out to be miserable when you hear them live. Except the Beatles because they didn't hear themselves in front of an audience!).

We just saw Y La Bamba & Neko Case at the music festival we went to last weekend, and tho I'd seen Case before I was not any less impressed. We missed part of Y La Bamba's set, but I really liked what I heard.

And yeah... that line. Sometimes I can hardly believe all that sound comes from one person! And her stage presence is such an interesting combination of fierce and laid-back.

I saw one deer driving home and...ugh...bloody deer carcass in the middle of the road D: I too, am afraid of hitting a deer, mainly because of one particularly terrifying drive home from Charleston one night when it seemed like there was a full mile just full of deer standing on the side of the road and I was sure ONE of them would try to run in front of me but none did.

I had a great time reminiscing with you about Jay's hair and the boys' fashions. LOL

1. nekoooooooo. i sure do love that lady. haven't seen her in a while! also, don't you love kelly hogan? the two of them together are ridiculously adorable. the other day on facebook, kelly wrote a message on nora o'connor[fellow awesome lady musician, do you know her?]'s wall that was all like, "nora! have you seen bridesmaids? it's so awesome! neko and i went to see it tonight! wish you were here!" it was basically the cutest use of facebook, ever.

2. a few weeks ago i got up the nerve to make an awkward video in which i cover a neko case song. it is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZG_Vduz_0Ds it is, you know, not neko case, but i honestly don't think i really embarrassed myself, which is basically the best-case scenario. :o)
