As an additional note, I found this quote on a page about the Japanese version of the game:
"Tatsuya calls her Maya-nee, since apparently he can only think of her as neesan (older sister). Katsuya, on the other hand, calls her Amano-kun, since he apparently has no Oedipal hangups about checking out her boobs."
"According to Persona Club III, he sometimes gets up at 5:30 am on his days off to plan what to make for Tatsuya. He decides on a cheesecake because it's not too sweet. When Tatsuya refuses to eat it and leaves, Katsuya mopes, watches women's cooking shows, and decides to make Tatsuya an "I'm sorry" cake."
That's what actually made me fall in love with the Persona series - the fact that they're not the usual happy, flowery, "everything's going to be okay" stories. (Which is, ironically, what I have a feeling the reason they never made it big in the US is. I couldn't believe the number of people that were complaining about the end of FFX because it wasn't "happy
( ... )
Totally. I love that picture, the hands pulling at him seems like such a perfect image. I've found some incredible fan art on random Japanese pages, but I hesitate to post it because I don't exactly have the authors' permissions... I highly recommend the art on this page, though (go to illust, then persona 2). It's so gorgeous. That first picture (is it Joker Jun?) gives me the sweats. Mm!
Tsumi looks *really* interesting (I basically just read the translated script... the things I do with my free time) but I am so nowhere close to that level of fluency... I don't understand casual speech... and I know only about 150 kanji... *whine* But I could play it with a script, I guess. The thing is, I dunno if I could deal with being Tatsuya... and Maya really looks like a ditz ^^; I appreciate her more as the "silent hero"... hee!
About to go beat the game again to see what happens when Maya demands to go with him. Hey, I'm done with my finals! ;)
