Agree with NN. 'Being there' for someone is the best form of support ever.
Oh, & doing the washing up, or grocery shopping, & cleaning the kitchen floor if it's obvious it needs doing!
Besides which, some things just can't be 'fixed' & the only alternatives are to bail out & leave the person to face things alone, or to stay in there with them.
