Want to know about me and want to tell me about you? Check out the
Comment, and I get to give you five questions to which you will probably know the answers and you answer them in your LJ.
Here are mine, from
ion_bond, they are lovely questions:
Questions for Anne
1. Which of the Marauders should sleep with Bobby Drake?
Remus, natch. Of course, in my mind, Remus would sleep with anyone. He'll probably have slept with everyone by the time I'm done writing fanfic.
2. What do you do for a living?
Web application interface design and development
What did you want to do when you were ten?
Web application interface design and development - kidding (none of that existed when I was ten because I am old). Honestly, I wanted to be the first woman Episcopalian bishop - not kidding
3. Of which of your fanfics are you most proud?
This is a Bean because it's so poetical, though
Imperfect is probably the best written of my stuff.
4. What do you think of this current immigrant kerfuffle?
Amnesty and a broader immigration policy. The whole guest worker thing would probably lead to the same problems Europe is having; a larger immigration population that has no connection or investment in our national ideals, goals, etc.
Immigration has had a negative effect on the working class. In the last twenty years as illegal immigration has increased, unionized labor's gone from 25% of the workforce being unionized to around seven percent. And undocumented workers keep wages low. But I think that's illegal immigration not immigration per se. I think the labor unions can only be re-energized by the recent protests as undocumented workers move from demands for legitimacy into demands for better pay, education opportunities, etc. All workers suffer if there is any population of workers that can be easily exploited and coerced into working for low pay and under unacceptable conditions because they are here illegally and therefore have no legal recourse. At any rate it only benefits corporate America to have workers pitted against other workers -- blaming immigrants for the lack of economic justice in this country rather than the conservatives.
Anyway, in this day and age where everything feels phony, it's nice to see something authentic and spontaneous happening. Um, that's my opinion for what it's worth.
5. Rec me a fic.
This is probably sadder than you like, and you've shown no interest in Regulus Black, so why am I reccing this to you, I don't know, I just love it so...
The Sun Burst Through In Unlooked for Directions by
spessartine Let's see there's this classic which you've probably read 800 times...
Fragile Bodies of Touch and Taste And this, the first slash piece I read that made me realize that there was really good writing going on fanfiction. I read it before I'd found LiveJournal or knew anything at all about this phenom.
