So, there's a lot of fic out there that bothers me. Poor grammar, bad spelling, improbable (even anatomically impossible) porn, absolutely terrible characterizations, etc, etc. These bug me, sure, but they don't really upset me. It's just par for course. And it's not like I pay for fanfic. It's a place for experimentation. A place to get better, if

UGH.
I guess that person missed the ep where she shot off the swinging rope in one shot. Or blew up a sun. Or even in the early days of season one, won a knife fight.

I really don't need to know about my fictional character's periods, their eliminatory needs, and their boils, pimples, and post-nasal drip. We all deal with such things, but adding it to fic doesn't add realism, it adds squick.
Besides, Jack was married. He should be able to handle the realities of the female body.
It all comes down to waaay T.M.I. about what the author thinks is sexy.

The annoying thing about the fandom I'm currently involved with is that the woman hasn't done anything particularly bad or stupid. Her sole crime - in the eyes of certain fans - is fighting off the advances of the popular male character. He's a bad guy and has done LOTS of terrible things - and, more to the point, she's not in love with him. A lot of people hate her for that. It makes me want to shake them.
