Watching S.H.I.E.L.D. reminds me a lot of watching Stargate Universe back in the day. You want to like it so bad, its part of a larger awesome franchise, and every once and a while you see these glimmers of what the show could be, but you're still just waiting for that potential to come together into something great. I'm sort of vaguely disappointed in Whedon. What's happened?! (Granted, the show is still better than 60% of what's on TV as a whole right now)

It's EXACTLY the same as Universe in that way for me, too--I have moments where I am in love with it, and then long stretches where I couldn't care less about those people on that ship.
