Miss Fisher Season Two: Predictions

Apr 06, 2015 08:06

I finished season 1 last night, so now I am going to predict season two, a la Mark Watches. Please, no spoilers for season 2 in the comments, no matter how small (Even if you liked it or not!). I am a spoilerphobe! Also, assume spoilers for season 1 below.

My predictions (so I can mock myself later):

Jack's Divorce:
There are few common ways this could go, many of which scare me.
1) Jack gets a divorce. The impediment with his relationship with Phryne then becomes her disinterest/unwillingness/inability to commit herself to one man as communicated to Mr. Lin. The show has done a really great job of in no way judging Phryne for her varied sexual encounters. This is what makes me a little leery of this possbile plot. How do you deal with in a way that doesn't fundamentally change Phryne's characterization or focus on the trope of "she just hasn't found the right man yet." It'd be cool to see this dealt with in a new interesting way. Of course, off the top of my head, I'm not sure what that could be. (Acknowledge her struggle with monogamy without turning her into a vicitim?)
2) Jack's divorce gets dragged out for some reason. Possibly Phryne ends up helping Jack solve a few things to get the divorce to go through. Having come so close to getting his divorce, Jack stands even firmer in his moral high ground, and much eyesex and almost kissing happens.
3) Jack's attempt at a divorce somehow brings his wife back around (she doesn't want to lose him, doesn't want to be disgraced by a divorce, gets forced to try harder by her family, has something she wants to get from Jack, etc, etc, etc). This one scares me the most. Hopefully she would be a sympathetic character, not just a shrill, pushy harpy for people to hate and blame for the lack of Phryne/Jack sex. Best case scenario, Phyrne ends up helping said wife with some mystery, maybe clearing the name of the wife's secret wannabe love, tying the whole thing up nicely. Worst case scenario, the wife ends up a victim of murder or turns out to be evil/insane and goes to jail/mental ward.
4) Jack doesn't get divorced. Which either means the eyesex and almost kissing continues, with added levels of angst. Or they learn to create a relationship on their own terms. (Phryne would probably have an easier time of this than Jack.)

Dr. Mac:
1) Finds a new girlfriend. Can we see a kiss?
2) Maybe gets Phyrne involved with a sex slavery case? Or a stealing medicine racket. Dunno. I just want more Mac.

Jane:
1) helps solve another case with picking locks, lifting things from people's pockets, or making people forget she's there with an innocent child act.
2) brings a case to Phryne's attention

Dot:
1) has to dress up in disguise in one of Phryne's exquisite outfits
2) crosses herself eight times
3) ties Hugh to a chair

Aunt Pru willingly helps Phryne with a case using deception and the power of gossip.

Phryne has sex with four men who are not Jack.

Hugh tries to buy Dot jewelry. Hilarity ensues.

There will be a plot at a weekend houseparty.

Cec or Bert will go undercover in another house or a place of business.

There will be a death in a bank or bank vault.

There will be a murder where there is no body, but Phryne is still convinced took place.

Absinthe.

Phryne's household will adopt at least one more stray.

There will be a plot involving WWI.

Phryne's mother or father will come for a visit.

Okay, that's enough for now. I'll come back when I'm done and mock myself.
