my sister lives in hemel hempstead but works in the city a few times a week ... the 5 seconds it took her to answer her phone seemed like an eternity ...
Oh petal, bless you, *hugs* i can to some extent understand, my brother (who - as you know im not speaking to - but who i instantly worried for) is down there on business all the time(he works for William Hill and though he 'officially' works in Leeds, because he's uber-near-the-top now, the London trips can be anything up to 3 times a week )i knew from mum that he had been there last thursday and friday and made the call to her with my hands shaking - likewise - it took - or seemed to take eons for her to answer, but thankfully, he wasnt there today *phew* though the fact that he was there on monday makes me go cold
( ... )
I saw the first news flashes interrupting crappy morning TV and watched it unfold and get worse with each report, felt very eerie and surreal it being London, it being HOME and not somewhere far off like Baghdad, not to say i was blind to the potential of something like this happening, or to downplay the awfulness of things like this that happen all too regularly outside this sceptered isle, but it was just such a shock i felt like i was trying to wake up and shake a bad dream, except it was real :( although obviously on a entirely different scale, it reminded me totally of 9/11 - i happened to tune into that at the very start and watched the horror played out like a disaster movie - and like then - i was again sat here alone and aghast, and again like that time worrying and wondering what it might mean for the future.
