The Seattle Times has an excellent article discussing the McCain campaign's attempt to smear Barack Obama with lies. When I say lies, I don't mean half-truths or misleading statements; I mean lies, and very mean ones. I would recommend everyone read this article because it's very unsettling

Let me add, if Obama doesn't win in 2008, may we all pray that Barbara Walters runs for President in 2012! It is awesome to watch her drill McCain on the details while he trips over his own words, a perfect example of the kind of tough questions the media has failed to ask President Bush over the last 8 years.

If you look at the issues, McCain's positions generally would not appeal to many people. When Obama's tax plan calls for about 95% of families with children (and mid-80s% of all families) to get a tax cut, it's difficult to fight that. What's left? Lies and smears! Can he keep it up for 50 more days?
