Well, Are You?

I had seen him in the library many times before. He's kinda hard to miss. He's the older man with the long white beard. He came up to me, handed me an article and said, "Are you ready?" I read the title of the article and looked up to see the look of seriousness on his face which strangely contrasted my look of gratitude. I wasn't so much ( Read more... )

I think it sucks... But um, I can't help but be a bit happy that they're thinking of making both sexes register with the Selective Service.

I'm with James... make both sexes register, and then get that asshole, god-complexed monkey out of the white house.

A.) Rev. Tom Brown skeezes me out.
B.) It really pisses me off that they are trying to include women in the draft, but I would never protest because it is only fair, esp in the context of our culture these days.

I disagree that it is nothing more than a political ploy by Democrats. In fact, I know it's not, and if you do any reading on any of the sites I constantly post from, you, too, will realize it's not. While not serious yet, Congress has looked at doing that, as we have a significant drop in military recruitment and more demands for troops (wonder why?) Furthermore, for the youthies out there who have absolutely no idea what the draft was really like in the 60s and 70s, please be aware that, since the Vietnam War, our government has made a deal with Canada and it's not an option anymore. They have closed the border and will force people back if they're trying to 'escape' the draft that way. Same with going overseas. Essentially, our country will close our borders and those within them will be forced to serve.

I have no doubt that our 'founding fathers' are literally rolling over in their graves with our recent interpretation of Democracy and the separation of church and state.

Be aware that suppose we stage a real full scale war, and not this iraq occupation crap, there are more then half a million active soldiers, and more then a million reserves. If in the horrid event, we actually need more troops, the draft would be implemented and people would be pooled. about 6 months later, you would be on the field. Personally, if the US ever was in dire enough shape to require the draft, and for all ablebodied citizens to pick up arms, then i'd be right there, and would hope that all ablebodied women would be too. However, because that isn't going to happen, implementing the draft is just a ploy to get people thinking, 'Do i really want this war if my daughter may have to fight?' So yay draft/.
