The baby has graduating from tickling me to fully kicking me.  That didn't take long.  On Wednesday night, I was lying on the couch with my hand on my belly when I felt a kick -- with my hand.  I was not expecting it so I wasn't sure if I imagined it or what, but I started concentrating and about five minutes later, I felt three right in a row.  I ( Read more... )

It is a surprise! We'll be surprised on 11/13!

Naw, we're expecting a boy. John's mom plus this other very intuitive person (Marlene, the cleaning lady at my work, sounds weird but she is a very caring and connected type person) are really sure about it. But we want to find out to make preparations easier since there's not that much unisex stuff out there, and I don't want all yellow and green in any case. For some reason they really don't make stuff in bold colors either, which would be okay for both. But for some reason, I really believe Marlene because every time she sees me she is more and more sure. So if the ultrasound says it's a girl, then it will REALLY be a surprise!

I agree it's a surprise whenever you find out! I never quite get why some people say it ruins the surprise to find out the sex before the baby is born.

Wow, you are lucky you can feel such strong kicks so early! Your baby must have strong legs :) I can't feel anything yet because I have an anterior placenta that cushions all the movement. Instead of beating up my belly, he beats on the placenta.

I know, it's pretty early! I love it. Even in the short time I've been noticing them as kicks (less than a week) I've noticed a pattern, like (s)he's really active mid-morning, around 10 or 11, and then there's another little burst after dinner.

I told my mom about John being able to feel it already and she laughed in a kind of sinister way and predicted that by 36 weeks or so I'm going to be begging it to come out!
