I just canceled Henry's guitar lessons*, and I'm having some problem with their record keeping versus what makes sense to me. He started the lessons in September, and we paid for a whole month.  Last week I gave them the check for October, but he's not finishing out October.  The store says that we are "even", but by my reckoning, they owe half of ( Read more... )

Unless they charge for full months and don't prorate back any charges. But they should also make you aware of that.

They don't seem very aware of the details there. They have one computer, which is also the cash register, in which all the records are kept. So even if two or three guys are there, one guy can't check records if another guy is ringing up a sale.

Still though, even with the one computer, they know that you paid for October. And October is not over.

I've been taking piano lessons my whole life, and I believe you should be reimbursed for the last two lessons.

I have to agree about the teaching style. Part of learning something like playing an instrument is to have fun, especially for a kid, and frankly, hours of fingering practice for someone who doesn't even really know if they like the instrument does not quite sound like fun.
