Glad you're enjoying your photography, there's so much you can do with it as a hobby and it's really rewarding (as these varied shots show!) I especially like the flower one, so burdened with the rain but the colours shining through.

I still think Valentine's Day should be for lovers, not just about love generally, but I'm increasingly outnumbered on that one, LOL.

Oh! Apparently I turned off LJ notifications! Thank you. Lovers can definitely keep Valentine's Day as long as I get to keep Pancake Day ...

WOW the spring photo you risked pneumonia getting is GORGEOUS. And I am as envious as stink, still having much snow on the ground over here.

Glad you have a line on a better landlord! That would be awesome to get a nicer place.

And your button hooks are terrific. Forgive me, but what do you use a button hook for? Is this an upholstery thing? They are beautiful though. I can see the reason to collect them immediately.

The milk frother, is that a big beast on the counter? Is the milk hot? I've often thought of getting one, but I'm not really an expresso fan, so it was like meh, but I do love steamed milk. I was in absolute heaven when I was visiting Ireland and they had 'Black and White coffee. I had 'White' coffee (steamed milk....mmmmmm moans) constantly. And in the European tradition, every cup was delicious, not the dross we get in North America even from chains like Starbucks. North American's can't make good coffee dependably. IMO Anyway I'm curious about the steamer. *chinhands* can you tell me more?

You know those Victorian boots with the buttons up the side? Button hooks were used to button those, and I suppose other garments that were difficult to button. Like hat pins, they’re a thing of the past.

Oh right!!! The minute you explained I realized I remembered what it was. Yeah, not really using those anymore but very pretty.

Sorry! Apparently I turned off notifications somehow. I was feeling lonely for no good reason lol. The button hooks are Victorian/ Edwardian for literally fastening/unfastening all the pesky buttons on clothes and boots. I magine the fiddly little round buttons that look so lovely but are a right fiddle! The milk frother is literally a counter top milkshake maker (Nesquik type of the 70s). I make my espresso in a stove tp jug or cafetiere and warm my milk in the microwave and then whizz it up until frothy, taking care not to burn myself. Not quite as posh as a steamer but satisfactory nevertheless.

You may be an amateur, but you have a great eye for subject and competition. I took a few photography classes back in the day, and it can be a challenge even with what at first seems simple - like getting a reflection pic.

I love the button hooks. So lovely and the history is fun to speculate about.

Like D, I envy your spring flowers!

I had milk steamer once, and it scared me so bad, I only used it once lol. A fritter sounds more my speed.

Thanks for sharing your creative endeavors. I always enjoy them.

Good luck finding a new place.

Ack, boo for turning my notifications off. You need to show us some of your photos sometime too. My mini daffodils are just starting to come out this weekend too, so I am feeling optimistic even if I am freakin' freezing right now.
