Fic Recs and Stats.
It's been a long time. According to AO3 comments it's over two years since I engaged at all with fandom but yesterday I was pinned in place by a terrified cat for a long fireworks night. I had a relatively clear head for the first time in a long time so I decided to finally log in to what feels like a 'previous life'.

Is it really two years - wow. How nice that when you do decide to dip a toe back in the SPN waters you find some lovely positive things like little presents left for you on AO3 😍
Thanks for the recs (I love hellhoundsprey, very dark and twisty at times but a really good writer) but I don't think I've come across the other one.

It really is. I thought the finale really closed a chapter in me, despite not really liking the show for a few seasons I had always had hope. I felt it was a good ending for wherever anyone left the show. I've been strange MH wise, not sure what version of me is actually 'me'. I didn't expect many to be here. I do know that I prefer the LJ and Tumblr days to the X and Tik Tok ones filled with war and hate right now. Give me back creativity and community.

I really miss LJ's heyday. Mostly I hang out on a small SPN discord group (including quickreaver and a few others you might know), and with some SPN related friends who all met up at conventions and still chat and meet up occasionally. It's difficult to find spaces that aren't dominated by wincest-hating (mostly) destiel fans, 80% of whom haven't even watched the show, just absorbed it via tumblr.

Ugh, the destiel and purity fans just sucked the joy out of the fandom. Seeing Jared and so many like minded people so close, in Edinburgh, was tough. No way I could afford the convention though even if I could cope with the crowds. I re established a discord but it's empty. I have no idea of where the SPN channels are and especially the ones without the fandom stirrers. It is great to see that there is still great Sam and Dean and J2 content coming out though. I hope it's like Star Trek - with the creativity continuing on.

So you remind me it's time to reread your stories--it's been a while! Lovely to see you here again. I wish we could all be back here again--I've never liked any other place than this. I miss the fun! I thought after the show, all the people who made spn fandom miserable would lose interest and haunt someone else but nope, no such luck.
Your recs were interesting--I love smackthedevil--I always end up leaving blabby, loopy comments to their stories and they are always very kind about it, lol! Hellhoundsprey, though...big, solid nope. They have a very deep, very involving style, but I'm too much of a weenie to get through a story, hah!
I've been fly-by reccing myself. Can't write, still reading, so I can share that way at least. 😄

Oh, I should check out other stories by both, and check your recs. Dark stories can be tough which is why I always say to check out tags. I thought the negative folks would leave too, why stay in a fandom where you hate so much? This is the one place I would always want to come but it's been a political decision - I've let my subscription lapse and use an adblocker so maybe that is enough. I'm really glad to see you still here.

Great to hear from you! I’m still lurking around here but there hasn’t been much activity over the past few years and I miss it! So glad you’re still reading and reccing fic. I might pass on the Hellhoundsprey story, but Smackthedevil is new to me so I’ll give them a shot, for sure!

There was a lot of Smackthedevil fic recently, so I assume they might be transferring it from somewhere, maybe non-LJ. Was wondering if there might be a bit of instability on another platform like Wattpad, if that even still exists. Still, if there are more good ones in the mix then there's no complaints here!
