I can only presume you've been reading the Magic: The Gathering books. Phage is a depressing story starting from the time her brother almost killed her (but instead placed a never-ending mana burn in the pit of her stomach). Kamhal repented since but until she was reborn (after "Phage") she could touch nothing that wasn't natural, like Spider Silk, or metals like steel.

Please read something else.

These are actually Voyager episode titles, phage being one of them. I called the narrator Phage (being me) because they feel like a disease (which is the plague that is wiping out the race called the Vidians).
