I also find it interesting that she's assuming the injection of monetary gain into sexual behavior, not vice versa. It's a commonplace that prostitution often arises out of women needing money rather desperately and having to resort to prostutitution to get it - often after other methods have been exhausted. Kuriansky implies that prostitution is not simply a goal but a deliberate and favorable one in the minds of these women, and while that could be true for a small segment of the population, it's fallacious to apply it to the whole.
